Cleaning and Climbing

The boys having a super time! Tate was amazing for his first time.
I love to rock climb too!
Don't worry, Sommer was just resting after a big climb.

On Saturdays at our house, we spend the morning doing jobs. The kids get so excited about cleaning! Not! They especially love when I sing the song, "When your helping, your happy, and you sing as you go. For you love to help mother..." Not! I assign a task to each child. After they finish that, they get another and so it goes until everything is clean. They all moan and groan as I keep giving them things to do. "Not another job," is a comment I hear often. But I tell them that we keep on trucking along until every job is done!

Well today I told the kids that after they cleaned we would go do something really fun. They all picked Rock Climbing! That worked out perfect because it is free at our gym. First we went to McDonald's for lunch (come on, I wanted to keep our newly cleaned kitchen sparkling!). I told them I only had $10 and had to feed everyone on that amount. $1 menu all the way!
After 2 hours of climbing, everyone was exhausted. We had such a super time.

Preschool Graduation

Ashton and Tate had their preschool graduation this week. The theme for Ashton's performance was Mother Goose. Ashton recited, "Rub a Dub, Dub" and dressed like a dog for "Hey Diddle, Diddle." He was offered the cow costume after seeing it, he proclaimed, "That's weird." He played the part of Jack in "Jack and Jill" and fell down right on cue with Jill tumbling after. He has one more year at our fav preschool ever, 4 Rs.

Tate is officially a Kindergartener now! He can't wait to ride the bus and go to school with all of the big kids. His graduation was themed after Eric Carle's, "The Hungry Caterpillar." He recited a few different lines although we couldn't decipher any of the mumbling. Isn't he cute in his grad outfit?!

Broken in Boston

Did you know I fractured my calcaneous (heel bone) during the Boston Marathon? Well, I might have done it during my training, not really sure. What I do know, after getting a bone scan last week, is that there is a lovely stress fracture on my right foot. Ahhh! A reason for my misery. I have had(and still deal with) Plantar Fascitiis, but that is something I have had in both feet and have managed that discomfort the past few years. This was a bigger mess and most painful. It didn't go away after NOT running for 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks...the orthopedic says it might be 4-8 more weeks (even up to 6 months) before I can run again. So for the last month I have been swimming, spinning and the ever boring eliptical machine. I long for the day I can run and run and run....

Anyone out there have any sympathy for me?

Sommer and Felicia

Felicia and Sommer...BFFs! We love when Felicia can spend time with our family. Sommer and Felicia spent most of their time inside the inner tubes. Here they are in action!

Lake Living...we wish!

We had an awesome Memorial Day at the lake! We love spending time with Pop-Pop and Grandma Gair at their Lakehouse (see it behind Ashton?). Thank you both for making our weekend care-free...just what we needed...when can we move in?!

Ashton and Tate loved the swings!
Pulling all the beach toys down in the wagon! They have everything a kid could need!
Garth resting after luggin' the wagon down...
During a Sea-Do pull, the rope got caught in the jet ski. Garth had to pull the stranded passengers along with the Sea-Do and Jet ski until we saw them in distress...Grandma to the rescue!
Here are the survivors! Everything was fixed and we were back out before too many complaints.

Mystery Museum

Here is Ethan dressed up like Jigsaw Jones from the book, "The Case of the Marshmallow Monster." The entire 2nd grade held a mystery museum where they spoke in character about a mystery that they solved! They also had to make a diarama (gotta love those). Ethan has been anxiously waiting for his turn at making one of these shoe box creations (after seeing his siblings make them over the years). He did a super job!
